MALLEABILITY

Aluminium’s natural malleability provides a major safety advantage over steel. In impact situations, aluminium absorbs energy by deforming rather than cracking or rupturing. Steel tends to fracture once its elastic limit is exceeded, increasing the risk of catastrophic failure. Aluminium’s ability to flex and dent helps preserve tank integrity, reducing spill risk during accidents or minor collisions.
This ductile behaviour protects both cargo and operator, making aluminium inherently more forgiving in real-world operating conditions. For petroleum transport, this translates into improved crash survivability, lower repair severity, and enhanced safety margins across the vehicle’s working life.
